Orillia Festival

On Saturday, July 16th, Blackwater attended the Orillia Scottish Festival. The day was extremely hot and humid, and we had to do a parade, 2 massed bands, and compete! Although we are not officially competing this year, we decided to give it a whirl at Orillia. With a slightly modified Hell's Kitchen Medley (sans Hell's Kitchen) we placed First in the band competition! We also won the Best Parade Band! Dave and Kevin also placed first and third in the Open Solo Piper competition. Congrats Blackwaterians!

A big thank you to all the bands for coming out on a horrifyingly hot day, and making us feel welcome at the Orillia Festival. By the way, I've completely forgotten who won 2nd and 3rd place. Does anyone remember?

The photos are courtesy of Olivia. She managed to document most of the day through photographs and video, and I've selected a few for your viewing pleasure! The photo to the left is first photo in the gallery. Videos will be uploaded soon.

Practice Moved (July 19)

it's at the band shell thing down by the lakeshore near Eastern Ave.

The Legion is getting its carpets cleaned on July 19th, so we can't practice there. Tentatively, we will have practice at Legion Br. 1 (243 Coxwell Ave) on Tuesday. Remember this is our last practice before the Uxbridge show, so we need to have everybody out.

Unfortunately I have a family engagement Tuesday, so if the location changes, please email/phone everyone to let them know the location.

Summer Season

Hello everybody! July is our busy month this year. We have two big events for the next two weekends: the Orillia Scottish Festival (July 16) and the Highlands of Durham Festival (July 23).

Just a reminder, practices are held every Tuesday and most Sundays at the Legion (Toronto Br. 22).

As always, we are looking for more pipers and drummers. If you want a change of pace and learn some new tunes that are off-beat come on out to the shows and see us play! If you like us, join our practices!
